JEAN CLARA STEPANZAK (nee BANASH) Peacefully and with great dignity on March 2, 2001, with her loving family at her side, age 82, at Brantford, Ontario, after a courageous battle with cancer she went home to be with the Lord and Saviour. Jean was predeceased by her beloved husband John on October 1, 1976 and by her parents, Andrew and Mary Banash (nee Wasney) all of Selkirk, Man. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Marlene and her husband Carl Bock of Brantford, Ont; and her granddaughters Carlene and her husband Stewart Johnston of Waterloo, Ont., and Sherie and her husband Lt. Daniel Robertson of Texas. Also sadly missed by her precious great-grandchildren, Bailey and Blake Johnston; her sisters, Anne Kotack, Frances Kuprowski, Carrie Novalski, all of Toronto, Marie Chermetsky of East Selkirk, Sophie and her husband Tony Ruptash of Winnipeg; brothers, Bernard Banash of Selkirk, John Banash and his wife Irene of East Selkirk and many nieces and nephews. Jean will always be remembered for her unconditional generosity to others in need. Her family was the focus of her life and her faith in Christ was a source of strength, enabling her to emerge victorious through trying times in the last few years of her life. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 8 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Selkirk with Fr. Boguslaw Wardzinski officiating. Interment to follow at Notre Dame Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her dear husband. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk.
