JAMES JOSEPH MORAN Following a long illness, Jim passed peacefully away on March 4, 2001 with family by his side. Jim was born in Sioux Lookout, Ont. on May 7, 1923 to John and Maisie Moran. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Terry, Harry and Ray, and by his sisters, Eleanor and Verola. He leaves to mourn Jack and Barb Moran and family of Sioux Lookout, and his sisters, Dorthy Frederick of Winnipeg and Maisie Leonard of Scarborough, Ont. He has numerous nieces and nephews throughout the country. One nephew Robert and wife Tammy; niece Carole and sister-in-law Audry of Winnipeg; nephew Shane and family of Lac du Bonnet and niece Colleen and family of Niverville; sister-in-law Laura of Thunder Bay, Ont. Jim spent four years (1942 - 1946) in the Canadian army in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He received the France and Germany Star. Defence Canadian Volunteer Medal and two Defence Medals. He was a member of the Fort Rouge Legion. A graduate of Queens University, Jim worked as a chartered accountant for Revenue Canada for 35 years, retiring at age 60. Jim lived to golf, spending many of his summer days at Pinecrest Golf Club. His greatest pleasure was getting together with family, especially at weddings. He enjoyed listening to his cassettes and CDs as well as reading. Jim was a member of the St. Ignatius Church and until his illness he rarely missed a Sunday. In October of 1997, Jim moved into Deer Lodge where he attended the Chapel as his illness allowed. The family wish to extend their sincere thanks to Mary Ann and Frank Siemans for the caring times they spent with Jim, also to the wonderful staff who cared for Jim throughout his stay at Deer Lodge. We cannot give enough praise for the reliable care and patience he received. For all your kindness you have our deepest gratitude. Thanks also to Father Johnson of St. Ignatius Church. In his final years, Jim was forced to deal with many trials brought on by his illness. This old soldier faced it all with a quiet dignity and grace, never complaining, never losing his composure. He will be well remembered for his quick wit and sense of humour. May the Peace of the Lord be with him always. Honouring Jims request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will take place at St. Bernadettes Church on March 8 at 11:00 a.m. Father Leger will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Deer Lodge Centre, 2109 Portage Avenue. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
