Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPATRICIA MILDRED BLOWER After losing her husband of over 60 years in September 2000, Patricia Mildred Blower rejoined him and her Lord on March 5, 2001. She spent her last year in comfort at Tuxedo Villa. Mom was born in Gladstone, Man., on April 23, 1918. After completing high school she moved to Winnipeg where she worked at Canada Packers. Mom was introduced to Dad through some mutual friends and they were married on May 4, 1940. Shortly after their marriage, Mom and Dad moved to Eastern Ontario, where Dad served in the RCAF until 1946. By 1955 they returned to Winnipeg where they spent the rest of their lives. Mom was a devoted mother and wife. She worked very hard at keeping our family in tip top shape. She was famous for her well kept home, chocolate cake and wonderful butter tarts and her devotion to Dad. Mom was a member of Christ Anglican Church for a good part of her life and spent many hours working and visiting with senior and shut-ins. Later in life, Mom began volunteering at the Nearly New Shop and was an active member of the McKinnon Guild. Throughout her life she traveled with Dad first on business trips and then on winter vacations to Spain, Hawaii, Florida, Texas and Southern California. One of the highlights of her travels was a visit to England in the late 1970sthere she visited the birthplace of her parents and visited with her cousin, a noted British author. In her lifetime, Mom was a devoted mother and also a care giver, a mentor, a gourmet cook, a tireless volunteer, a gardener and a grandma who loved and cared for her cherished grandchildren. She leaves to forever remember her, sons, Alan (Helen) of Kelowna, John (Deborah) of Winnipeg and a daughter Irene (Jack) of Winnipeg and one remaining sister Audrey of Winnipeg. Also missing a dear grandma are grandchildren, Alana (Jerry), Darren (Clara), Darren (Marlene), Kristi, Chesney, Kellen and Farrah as well as great-grandchildren, Justin, Kory, Jesse and Gracie and many nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 8 at Bardal Funeral Chapel, 843 Sherbrook St., with The Rev. Canon John D. Caird officiating. The family would like to thank all of the caring staff at Tuxedo Villa, nurses and health care assistants who made her last remaining year comfortable and pleasant. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations to CancerCare Manitoba or the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation are greatly appreciated. "Mom, You gave so much care to others, Now its your turn to be lovingly cared for.
