HELEN MARGARET STEWART (CAMPBELL) It is with great sadness, the family announces the passing of Helen Margaret Stewart on March 5, 2001 at the Misericordia Hospital at the age of 96 years. Helen was born on October 19, 1904 at Rosser, Manitoba, daughter to the late Charles and Catherine Campbell. Predeceased by her husband, Robert (Bob) in 1974; sisters Mary Johnston, Jane Kruger, Robena Campbell; brothers, Don, Ralph, Wilf; and grandson Brian. She is survived by her sons, Jack (Elizabeth), Bob (Heather) grandchildren Dianne, Colleen, Glen, Kevin and Jennifer; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Iris North and Doreen (Joe) Hyde. Helen grew up and was educated in Austin, Manitoba. After completing high school, she took a business course at Success Business College and worked for Eatons Mail Order for a short time. She then entered nurses training in Portage La Prairie and graduated with a R.N. degree in 1931. Helen nursed in the Portage General Hospital for many years, retiring in 1969. She was also a life member of the Royal Purple Lodge. Helen was a loving and caring mother and grandmother, a kind person who will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nursing staff on Wolseley #3 at the Misericordia Hospital for all their care and compassion. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive. Service will terminate at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
