GEORGE A. SCHULTZ George A. Schultz, husband, father and grandfather left us peacefully on March 5, 2001. He was born on February 22, 1925 to Abram and Maria Schultz in Langham, Sask. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Bill and Clarence, and sister Margaret. He leaves to celebrate his life with many memories, his beloved wife Vi of 52 years; daughter Judi and husband Jake Janzen and grandchildren David and Susan in Brandon, Man.; son Richard and his wife Jacquie and grandchildren, Baergen, Haleigh and Graham in Denver, Co. He also leaves his sister Anne; brothers Art (Mary) and Menno (Irene) sisters-in-law Gwen (Archie) Kruger and Marianne (Alf) Luscombe and many nieces and nephews all very dear to him. After service in the RCAF and the Second World War, George studied in the United States at Tabor College, Central Seminary and Wichita State University, all in Kansas and at the University of Iowa where he received his PhD. He was ordained a minister of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A., in 1957. However, George found his vocation as a teacher. He taught in several American universities and since 1966 at the University of Manitoba, as a specialist in American History, and as head of the department for eight years. He retired from teaching in 1991 and enjoyed the following winters in Mesa, Arizona. The family wishes to thank Dr. Scott Young, Oncology and fifth floor nurses in Victoria Hospital, Dr. Marr and the staff on 3E at Riverview, all for their kind and compassionate care. Also special thanks to Gordon, Brenda, and Sydney, and all our friends and relatives for their prayerful support. There will be a celebration of Georges life on Saturday, March 10 at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 61 Picardy Pl., Winnipeg. According to his wishes cremation has taken place. Interment will be at the Last Post at Brookside Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in his honour to either Presbyterian World Service and Development, 61 Picardy Pl., Winnipeg Man. R3C 0X6 or Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Pl., Winnipeg, Man., R3T 5K9.
