PETER RYSTEPHANUK Passed away suddenly on March 7, 2001 at the Seven Regions Health Centre, Gladstone, Peter Rystephanuk, age 85 years, of Gladstone, Man., beloved husband of Tillie Rystephanuk. Peter was born in Sandy Lake, Man. and he served overseas as an artilleryman during the Second World War. He returned and farmed in Sandy Lake until 1960. He purchased the Whitemouth Hotel and, after selling that, purchased the Gladstone Hotel, from which he retired in 1972. He was a founding member of the Sandy Lake Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion and served a number of years as President. He also served as President of the Sandy Lake Curling Club. After retiring to Gladstone he served a number of years on the Gladstone Town Council. Predeceased by his parents Gus and Nastia Rystephanuk; brother Wes and sister Lynne Farion, he leaves to mourn his passing his wife Tillie; son Raymond (Maxine) daughter Patricia (Laurie) McCaskill; grandson Brett (Jennifer Shelton) Rystephanuk; granddaughter Hayley McCaskill; his sister Anne Storozuk, and several nieces and nephews. He was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. In accordance with Peters wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service was held on March 10 at Clarkes Funeral Home, Gladstone. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Seven Regions Palliative Care Program, Box 374, Gladstone, Man., R0J 0T0 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
