Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER JOHN MARTIN It is with great sadness the family announce the passing of their beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Walter John Martin on March 8, 2001 at the Misericordia Health Centre, in his 88th year. Walter was born on February 26, 1913 in Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his wife Stella on August 25, 1975 and his daughter Joyce Gacek on March 17, 2000, both whom he dearly missed. Walter is survived by his son Ken; daughter-in-law Marlene; son-in-law Kaz Gacek; grandchildren, Brenda Gacek, Wayne Gacek (Maxine), Karen Glugosh (Mitch), Theresa Sampson (Wayne), Kent Martin and Cynthia Wandowich (Larry) great-grandchildren, Dustin, Joshua, Ellea, Drake, Shayleen and Kayla. Walter married Stella Krawchuk in September 1932 and were together for 43 years until her passing. The family has many cherished memories of times spent with both of them at their cottage at Falcon Lake. Walter started his working career at the age of 15 years. He spent his entire working career (59 years) with Paulin Chambers (Inter-Bake Foods). He worked in all parts of the plant in various positions working his way up to hold positions as Shipping-Receiving Foreman and for many years as Candy Superintendent. He spent his later years as a Consultant. He retired from a long, hard working career at the age of 75 years. Walter was very proud of accomplishments he achieved during his working career. Throughout his life Walter enjoyed spending time at his cottage, bowling, golf and snooker. He challenged family members to try and beat him at a game of snooker - very few met the challenge. He has left his family with many cherished memories and a legacy of wisdom of the years. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 13, at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Wayne Gacek, Kent Martin, Mitch Glugosh, Wayne Sampson, Larry Wandowich and Dustin Gacek. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Walters memory to a charity of ones choice. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements - 586-8044.
