RAYMOND GEORGE KOLODY It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our dear husband, dad and grandad, Raymond, on March 8, 2001, at the age of 57. Ray leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, his loving wife Darlene; daughter Theresa and special friend Daryl; son Raymond and wife Andrea and granddaughter Gillian. He also leaves to mourn his brothers, Don and wife Edith and Lawrence and wife Pat; sister Valerie and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Helen and sister Linda. Ray was born and educated in Winnipeg. In 1962 he joined the Canadian Army and was posted to Edmonton, Victoria, Germany and lastly Wainwright, AB. While there he met and married his wife Darlene. In 1968, the Kolodys moved to Winnipeg. Ray began his career with the City of Winnipeg that spanned 30 years. In 1998, he retired as a Supervisor with the Works and Operations Department. Ray enjoyed the simple pleasures in life: picnics at Norris Lake, gardening, bike riding, time at the beach floating on his tube and especially walking in Kildonan Park. He had a great love of all the family pets that shared his life, especially his little Molly. Since his retirement, he was actively involved in the City of Winnipeg Retirees Association and the West Kildonan Residents Association. The family would like to express a sincere thank-you to Dr. Turnly Wong for his many years of dedicated care, the staff of the Palliative Care Unit of St. Boniface Hospital and Homecare nurse Dan Lapuk. Prayers will be held on Sunday, March 11, at 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 12, also at the Chapel. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be John Morris, Ken Maskell, Tom Scott, Maurice Dunn, Daryl McKay and Casey Jones. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rays memory to the Palliative Care Unit of St. Boniface Hospital, 409 Tache Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R2H 2A6.
