STEFANIA FESZCZAK Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, Stefania Feszczak passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in the village of Tetary in the Ukraine on May 8, 1927. At an early age she left the Ukraine to seek employment in Germany and then on to Belgium where she met and married Joseph Feszczak on May 13, 1946. In May of 1951 they left Belgium by boat for Canada to make a better life for themselves, settling in Winnipeg. Stefania began her employment as a seamstress working for several sewing factories and then moved on to St. Boniface Hospital where she worked in housekeeping for 15 years, retiring as a supervisor. Stefania was loved and will be sadly missed by her husband Joseph and pet Joey. She also leaves to mourn her passing her sister Katherine; niece Barbara (Paul) nephews, Roman (Sharon-Danika and Tesia) and Walter all of Winnipeg; brother Joseph in Russia; several cousins in Winnipeg, Philadelphia and France and her husbands family in the Ukraine. She was predeceased by her only son Nicola in infancy; mother Anna (Liwacz) and father Michael Chomiszak. Stefania made several trips back to the Ukraine to visit with family and friends. She was a wonderful hostess, a terrific cook and the greatest friend. She was loved and will be missed by her many neighbors and friends of both Winnipeg Beach and the city. Special thanks to the First Responders, Paramedics, emergency room and 4U7 staff at Seven Oaks Hospital during her final hours. Their professionalism and caring ways will always be remembered. Our gratitude to Dr. S. Navarafnam, Jane and chemotherapy staff of Cancer Care for all their kindness and compassion. We would like to offer special thanks to Olga Barth and Jean Domitruk, her dear friends for their constant support and compassion during Stefanias illness. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, March 15, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josephs Ukrainian Catholic Church, 250 Jefferson Ave., with Rev. Fr. Boris Kyba, C.Ss.R. officiating.
