Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUCY VIOLETTA VANSTONE July 12, 1910 - March 9, 2001 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Lucy passed away at the Morden District Hospital on Friday, March 9, 2001 at the age of 90 years. The family cherishes the memory of a nurturing, loving and devoted lady, who was the treasured nucleus of a loving family. Lucy grew up in Charleswood, daughter of Stanley and Violetta Edey. Growing up in Charleswood she was very active in the Girl Guides of Canada, volunteered at Deer Lodge Hospital and graduated from St. Marys Academy. While visiting her grandparents, the J.R. Blackwells of the Tobacco Creek area she met and later married her husband of 40 years, George Vanstone. They farmed and raised their family near Rosebank, where George and Lucy were very active in the community. A few of her pleasures in the community were the U.C.W., Curling and the Spring Oyster Supper. Lucy recently received from the Eastern Star Pembina Chapter the honour of a lifetime membership. Following Georges death Lucy retired to the Collingwood Apartments in Miami, where she remained active in the Eastern Star, U.C.W. and Church activities. The meeting of many new friends encouraged her to become involved in events at the Collingwood and Miami Friendship Centre. Lucy leaves to cherish her memory her children, Wesley and Elaine Vanstone of Miami; Gwen and Joe MacDonald of Morden; Melvin and Mary Vanstone of Winnipeg; Kathy and David Millar of Miami; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Ted and wife Mary Edey; Clifford and wife Elaine Edey all of Alberta, Elmer and Flo Edey of B.C. She was predeceased by her husband George Wesley Vanstone, by one brother William and his wife Marjorie Edey, and by two children in infancy. Funeral service will be held from the Miami United Church in Miami, MB on Wednesday, March 14 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bob Gilbert officiating. Urn interment will take place in the family plot in the Miami Cemetery. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Miami United Church Memorial Fund, Miami, MB ROG 1H0.
