Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySOPHIA (SOFIE) SAFINIUK (nee Palamarchuk) It is with heavy hearts we share with you, the passing of Sofie Safiniuk, sister and aunt, on March 12, 2001, at Holy Family Nursing Home. Sofie was predeceased by her husband Joseph Safiniuk in 1989; brother Stephen Palamarchuk in 1986; also by her parents and sisters in the Ukraine. Her memory will always be lovingly cherished by her cousin Eileen Kauffeldt and family, cousin Helen Werestiuk and family, cousin Henry Taraschuk and family, brother and sister in the Ukraine, as well as many other family members. Sofie was born February 19, 1904 in the Ukraine. She came to Canada for a new life in 1928. For many years she worked at Swifts and Manitoba Sausage. In 1940, Sofie married Joseph and enjoyed many happy years. Sofie was a free spirit and her love for nature was evident in the pride she took in her gardening and flowers. The family wishes to thank the 4th Floor Staff at Holy Family Nursing Home for their compassion and care they showed for Sofie. Prayers will be said on Friday, March 16, at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, March 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor St. with Rev. Mikhail Kouts officiating. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Peter Gibson, Darryl Marshall, William Werestiuk, Henry Taraschuk, Richard Safiniuk and Dan Gryszczuk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sofies memory to Holy Family Nursing Home, 165 Aberdeen Ave. "Vichnaya PamYat" CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements - 586-8044.
