HEINZ (HANK) RICHARD AMMETER

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHEINZ (HANK) RICHARD AMMETER Peacefully on March 13, 2001 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family, Dad passed away at the age of 63 years. He leaves to cherish his memory the love of his life and best friend, Alwyn; sons, Geordie and Bill (Diane) his daughters, Heather (Grant) and Linda (Dan). His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Alex, Hannah, Erica, Tori and Quin. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law Lilian Mackie; four brothers, Gerry, Holdy (Silvia), Roland (Lydia), Eric and his sister Trudy (John) and nieces. Dad was born on February 20, 1938 in Starbuck, MB. He moved with family to Stony Mountain in 1949. He joined the RCMP in Stonewall in 1956 and married Alwyn, August 20, 1960. Hank spent most of his service in Saskatchewan, returning to Manitoba in 1975 and retired from the Stonewall Detachment in 1988. Dad was Past Master of the Stony Mountain Masonic Lodge No. 134, Past President of the Stony Mountain Legion No. 142, Past Patron Jephthah Chapter No. 22 O.E.S. He was also a member of Khartum Temple and Past President Portage Motor Patrol. Dad was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. He also had a lifelong love of woodworking. Thank you to the nursing staff, dietary staff and ambulance service as well as Drs., Pinneger and Mohamdee, of the Doctor Evelyn Memorial Hospital in Stonewall. Honourary pallbearers are Danny Hubar, Jack Donetz, Ernie Rossnagel, Dennis Fright, Ed Haddad, Fred Ross and Dave Deally. Funeral service to be held on Thursday, March 15 at 2:00 p.m. at the Stonewall United Church. Private family interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Manitoba Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 9Z9 or a charity of your choice.
