Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANTHONY "TONY" STEMEROWICZ It is with great sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Tony Stemerowicz, our beloved brother and uncle. He left us on Monday, March 12, 2001 at St. Boniface General Hospital after a brief illness. Tony was born July 11, 1924 in Poland to Michael and Zofia Stemerowicz. With his parents, he came to Canada as a young boy of five. His early schooling was in Norman and Kenora. His leisure time was spent fishing at the "Dam". After serving in the R.C.A.F. from 1943 to 1946 as an Aero-Engine Mechanic, he entered Queens University, Kingston, Ont., and obtained a B.Sc., in Metallurgical Engineering. Tony worked in mines in Noranda, Que., and Manitouwadge, Ont., and then joined the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources in Ottawa as a Research Scientist. Upon retirement in 1989, he moved to Winnipeg to be closer to his family. Tony enjoyed reading, walking, listening to classical music, photography, watching tennis and the "Blue Jays" on TV. Weekly dinners with his family were special. Uncle Tony was extremely proud of the accomplishments of his niece and nephew and their spouses. He will be greatly missed by his nephew Michael (Sandra) Carpenter of Winnipeg; his niece Dana (Ron) Smith of Guelph, Ont.; his sisters, Antoinette (Everette) Carpenter of Winnipeg, Helen and Josephine of Kenora and his brother Frank of Kenora. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 17 at 11:00 a.m., in the St. Louis Church, Keewatin, Ont., with Monsignor Roger Bazin officiating. Interment will take place in the Lake of the Woods Cemetery, Kenora. In lieu of flowers and if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8 or the St. Boniface Research Foundation, 409 Tache Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6. Arrangements entrusted to Cropo Funeral Chapel, Winnipeg and Brown Funeral Home, Kenora.
