Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMABEL GRACE POUNDER Mabel Grace Pounder passed away peacefully March 14, 2001 after a short illness. Mabel was born October 3, 1908 in Waskada, Manitoba, the only child of Grace and Joseph McGill, and step-daughter of Charles A. Sankey; the eldest of four children in the Sankey family. She taught school for many years in Manitoba in Wingham School, Elm Creek and schools in Fort Garry. She was also Assistant Director of Social Services for the CNIB. Mabel married Dr. E.J. Ryall in 1929, and was widowed in 1946. She emigrated with her sister Nora to Los Angeles, California in 1948, where she taught school. She married Thomas James Pounder on July 27, 1951, and lived in St. Charles, Manitoba until 1972, when, in retirement, they moved to Victoria, B.C. She was a life member of the Anglican Church, a devoted member to the Shriners Khartum Temple Womens Auxillary, Winnipeg, and a life membership in the Engineers Wives Assoc. from 1951. She was predeceased by Tom on January 16, 1976, her brother Arthur in 1970, her sister Ethel Ann Tillanius in 1990, and her youngest sister Nora Zurcher in 1996. She is survived by her loving step-brother Charles Sankey of St. Catherines, Ont., also, her step-daughter Patricia Mahoney, eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by the Munden and Radtke families. Her family and friends everywhere will miss her warm, loving and independent spirit. A memorial service will be held at the Hayward, Thomson, Irving new chapel location at 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria on Monday, March 19 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice, with "In Memoriams for the family being sent to the Pounder residence.
