Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryESME DOHERTY (nee COOK) Peacefully passing through the bonds of earth and touching the hands of God, on March 14, 2001, Esme Doherty passed away at the age of 94 years, with her family by her side. Esme will be forever remembered by her son Thomas of Berlin, Wisconsin; daughter Patricia son-in-law Irvin; granddaughters, Julia and Christa; sisters, Nora Woodman, Molly Doig and family, Jo-Anne, Bob and John; sister-in-law Mary and family, Roberta and Jean, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, including special niece Lisa. She was predeceased by her loving husband Leo in 1974; her parents, Ernest and Mary-Alice Cook, and her brothers, Cecil, Ernie and Tom. Esme was born in Winnipeg on November 28, 1906 where she grew up and spent most of her life. She was the eldest of six children. On November 23, 1940, Esme and Leo were married in St. Marys Cathedral. They lived happily together for 34 years. Esme was an employee of Eatons for many years, working at first during the 20s and 30s in the Home Economics Department as a baker and cake decorator and later in the lingerie department. She had been a member of St. Ignatius Church for 51 years, attending mass daily for as long as she was able to. Her rosary was important to her and was always close at hand. Prayer service for Esme will be held at the St. Ignatius Church (Corydon and Stafford) on Monday, March 19 at 2:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated the following day, March 20 at 11:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment will take place in Assumption Cemetery following the mass. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. "God be with you Mom and Grandma.
