Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPAUL MAYCHRUK Peacefully on Saturday, March 17, 2001 at St. Josephs Residence, Paul, with his family at his side, passed away at 88 years of age. Paul will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his three children, Carol (West) and husband Kirk of St. Andrews and their children, Meagan and Christopher; Judy (Aitkin) of Canberra, Australia and her children, Sean, Kevin and Steven and Terry and wife Mary of Steinbach and their daughter Paula; brother Peter and wife Olive of Vancouver and nieces, nephews and their families. Paul was born August 1, 1912 in Winnipeg. Paul graduated from St. Pauls High School in 1930. He married Pauline Seniuk on May 6, 1939. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Polly; his son-in-law Frank Aitkin of Canberra, Australia; his parents, John and Mary Maychruk; his brother Nicholas and sister Marge Dagdick. Paul was a long time parishioner at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church and worked tirelessly on many committees including the Parish Council, the Immaculate Heart of Mary School Committee and was a past member of the church choir. Paul was active in all aspects of parish life, well spoken in both English and Ukrainian and a credit to the community. In April 1963 Papal blessings were bestowed on him and he was honoured by the Vatican with the Papal medallion - Pro Ecclesia Et Pontifice (For the Church and the Pope) - for his work as a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary School Building Committee. Paul was the first president of the St. Nicholas Mens Club serving in that capacity from 1965 to 1967. Divine Liturgy to celebrate Pauls life will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 23 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Bannerman and Arlington, with a Basilian Father officiating. Service will terminate at the church, private family interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery. The family would like to express their appreciation to the wonderful staff of St. Josephs for the care and affection Paul received over the past year. Sincere thanks also for the kindness and compassion shown by the many people involved in his care these past few days, especially the nursing and pastoral care staff.
