Date of Passing: Mar 17, 2001
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNA MARGARET CORBETT Mum passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall, MB. She was born Anna Margaret Switzer, June 15, 1907 at Strathclair, MB. Anna was predeceased by three brothers, four sisters, and her husband Norman who passed away April 17, 1973. Anna is survived by her three children, Brian (Dolly) of Saint John, NB, Jeanie (Tony Nichols) of Ottawa, ON, and Fred (Heather) of Rosser, MB; as well as 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Anna was raised in the Strathclair area. She attended Normal School in Winnipeg and began her teaching career in Ochre River and later Rosser, where she met Norman. They were married in 1935 and raised their family in Rosser, where they spent their entire lives. As well as teaching, Anna was involved in community life. She was an active member of the Rosser United Church, Rosser UCW and a lifelong member of the Rosser WI. Mum and Dad enjoyed curling, dancing, and all aspects of community life. As per Mums request, a private family service will be held in Rosser United Church. She wanted her grandsons to be her pallbearers and to be buried beside Norman in Brookside Cemetery. Mum felt she lived a long and good life and that no one should mourn her passing. Annas family invites friends and neighbours to join us in a celebration of her life to be held at the Hitchn Post Country BBQ (located of Hwy. No. 6 between Perimeter and Grosse Isle) on Friday, March 23 at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made to Rosser United Church, Box 36, Rosser, MB R0H 1E0. The family would like to thank the staff at both Tudor House in Selkirk and Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall for their kind care of Anna over the past few years. MacKenzie Funeral Home Stonewall in care of the arrangements.
