OLGA GOETZ (LATSCHISLAW) (nee KUSSMAUL) Suffering failing health for the last six months, Mom left this earth on Sunday, March 18, 2001, at the age of 92. Olga was born March 14, 1909, in Wolyn, Poland, the oldest of ten children born to Julianna (Pohl) and Michael Kussmaul. She was predeceased by her parents, first husband Emil Latschislaw, 1944, and by her second husband Jacob Goetz, 1981; four brothers and two sisters; also predeceased by five children, Magdeline, Irma, Lydia, Robert and Herman; one stepdaughter Lorraine Riach and her husband Stewart. She leaves to mourn two sons, Ted Latschislaw (Blanche Switzer), Karl Latschislaw (Janice), daughter-in-law Barbara Mollard; stepson Gordon Goetz (Laura) grandchildren, Mike Latschislaw (Jill), Charles Latschislaw (Audra), Christian Latschislaw, Rick Latschislaw, Jason Latschislaw (Carla), Darryl Latschislaw (Lana), Shawn Mollard, Marcella Gordon and Patti Allan (John). She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, two sisters, one brother and numerous nieces and nephews. She started her family in Neulubormik but because of the Second World War, she had to leave in 1939 and stayed at a camp for displaced people in Germany. She moved to Wartegau and lived there until 1945. She was forced to return to Poland where she and her three sons had to work on a big farm and live in a chicken barn. In 1947 she moved to East Germany with her children and from there, immigrated to Canada. She married Jack Goetz in 1951 in Ridgeville, Man., where they had a family farm. They retired to Emerson in 1967 where she was active in the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Many happy hours were spent with her friends and neighbours, quilting, playing cards and socializing. Many special times were spent with her grandchildren who were so dear to her. Upon Jacks death she moved to Mission Baptist Apts. in Winnipeg where she made many new friends and reacquainted with old friends and family. She joined Mission Baptist Church in 1984 and faithfully attended until her illness. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 22 at Mission Baptist Church, 771 Sargent Ave., Winnipeg. Viewing will be one hour prior to service. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. at the Emerson Cemetery. The family wishes to express our gratitude to the 5th floor nursing staff at Victoria General Hospital for their kindness and compassion during her final days. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Mission Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
