STANLEY WALTER HALLDORSON It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dearly loved uncle, Stanley Walter Halldorson, who died in his sleep on Sunday, March 18, 2001 at the Beausejour & District Hospital at the age of 85 years. Uncle Stanley was born on April 19, 1915 in Winnipeg and was adopted by Benedikt and Vigfusina Halldorson, the lighthouse keepers on Hecla Island. He was the eldest of their three children. He lived his life in the Gimli-Hnausa area and gained his livelihood fishing on Lake Winnipeg. In the last year, due to failing health, Stanley moved to an apartment in Garson, Manitoba in order to be closer to his family, although he left his lakeside home with some reluctance. He was a good, kind-hearted person who will always be remembered for his witty sense of humour and excellent memory of details and events. Stanley had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews and was truly a favourite uncle. Remaining to forever cherish his memory are four generations of nieces and nephews, who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his parents; brother Vilhjalmer (Bill) Halldorson; sister Grace Phillips, a niece Erika Sveinson and by two nephews, Greg Szabo and Jason Kinaschuk. In compliance with Stanleys wishes, a private family funeral service will be held with interment in Gimli, Manitoba. Our family would like to express our sincere thanks and deep appreciation for the excellent care and kindness Uncle Stanley received from the wonderful staff at the Beausejour District Hospital and from "his girls" who provided home care in Hnausa and Garson. God looked upon his garden and Found an empty space, Then he looked down upon the earth And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you And lifted you to rest. Gods garden must be beautiful For He only takes the best. He saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb, He closed your weary eyes and whispered, "Peace be Thine" It broke our hearts to lose you But you did not go alone, For part of us went with you To Gods garden, your new home. "Goodbye For Now, Uncle Stanley - Well Miss You" WOJCIKS FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM WINNIPEG, MANITOBA 204 - 897 - 4665
