Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMYROSLAWA KARPIAK 1910 - 2001 Myroslawa Karpiak (nee Bojczuk) passed away peacefully on March 19, 2001 at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg, at the age of 90 years. Myroslawa was born in Romanivka, Povit of Terebovlia in Ukraine on September 14, 1910. Completing high school in Ternopil, she graduated with a degree in economics from Charles University in Prague, Czechoslovakia. In 1949 Myroslawa came to Canada and settled in Winnipeg with her husband Zenon Karpiak, who predeceased her in 1964, and her children, Robert and Irene. Employed for many years in the garment industry, Myroslawa also taught Ukrainian school at the Ukrainian National Federation (UNO) and the Institute Prosvita. An ardent lover of nature, she spent her spare time cultivating her garden, trees, and flowers which reminded her of her early years in the Ukrainian countryside. Having survived the trauma of both World Wars, Myroslawa never lost her zest for life and accepted her destiny despite the physical disabilities of her later years. Living alone, family visits were for her always an occasion for celebration, enjoyment of her children and grandchildren, and reminiscences from her long and active life. Originally a member of the Sts. Volodymyr and Olha Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, she later worshipped at Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church when she became a resident of St. Johns Haven. Myroslawa leaves behind in sorrow and in loving memory of her warmth, kindness, and inner strength her son Robert and daughter-in-law Jane and their children, Katherine and Michael of Waterloo, ON, and Roberts son Paul and his mother Victoria Karpiak of Ottawa. Also, her daughter Irene Karpiak of Norman, Oklahoma and Irenes sons, Andre of Vancouver and Ilyan and their father Chrys Iwanchuk, both of Winnipeg. Visitation, parastas and panakhyda will take place on Sunday, March 25 at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St., at 7:00 p.m., followed by a reception. A private family ceremony and interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 26 at All Saints Cemetery. The gratitude of the family is expressed to the compassionate staff of Riverview Health Centre who attended to Mother so caringly, and our heartfelt thanks to Rev. Fr. Andrew Wach who will be the officiating priest. Vichnaya Pam Yat Knysh Funeral Chapel 582-0973
