Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE BLOCKLEY Peacefully, on Tuesday, March 20, 2001, George Blockley, age 93 years, passed away at the Deer Lodge Centre. George was predeceased by his loving wife Edith in 1974. He leaves to mourn his niece Florence Titus and family of B.C. and great-niece Eleanor Waterfield and family of Winnipeg. George was born May 3, 1907 in Invermay, Saskatchewan. He moved with his family to Winnipeg, where he attended Glenwood School. In 1937 in Winnipeg, he married the love of his life, Edith Milton. He joined the T. Eaton Co. working as a delivery driver and worked his way up to head clerk until he enlisted in the army in 1942. Sgt. Blockley served as a driver mechanic until November 23, 1945, when he returned to Eatons and worked until his retirement. He was a longtime resident of 344 Belmont Avenue and after the death of his beloved wife on January 24, 1974, he moved to the Carriage House and later to Deer Lodge Hospital. The family would like to thank the staff of Deer Lodge Hospital, Tower 6 for their care. A special thanks to his friends (Dolly Thorvaldson, Cliff, and Jo Cork) for their love and support. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 26, at 2:00 p.m. with viewing at 1:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Georges memory to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1932, Winnipeg, R3C 3R2. Now George and Edith will walk hand in hand in their "New Life."
