Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBETTY ELAINE GRIMOLFSON On Wednesday, March 21, 2001 with her family by her side, Betty, aged 52, beloved wife, mother and amma, passed away after a very long courageous battle with cancer at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Dennis; son Darren and granddaughter Amanda; daughter Kendra (Karsten) Hapel and grandson Tristan and granddaughter Dayna; sister June (Cliff) Cooke; sisters-in-law, Ethel LaFleur, Merilyn (Neil) Baldwinson and Solly (Olafur) Thorsteinson; brothers-in-law, Ivan (Kristine) Grimolfson and Curtis Grimolfson; and many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Les and Daisy Gillespie; sister Bernice; and father and mother-in-law Grimsi and Dolly Grimolfson. Betty was born in Winnipeg on August 19, 1948. She married Dennis in 1966 and they lived in Winnipeg until moving to Arnes two years ago. Betty was employed by the Winnipeg School Division No. 1 for 20 years, and due to illness was forced to take early retirement. She enjoyed baking and playing cards and games with family and friends. Her happiest times were spent at the lake with her grandchildren, where she kept an open house for all the family and friends. Betty was a friend to many and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. All who knew her will be saddened by her demise. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 24 at 2:00 p.m. in the Riverton-Hnausa Lutheran Church, with Pastor Trudy Sluth officiating. Donations in her memory can be made to the Community Health Centre, Fund Raising Initiative, Box 1710, Gimli, MB R0C 1B0. Special thanks to Dr. Chapnick and the nursing staff at the Johnson Memorial Hospital for all their excellent care and concern.
