JOHN IRVIN HOUSTON (Boker) 1910 - 2001 On Thursday, March 15, 2001 at the Willow Crest Care Centre in Vancouver, John passed peacefully away, with his family and friends by his side. He was 91 years of age. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 27 years Vernetta (Billie). He was predeceased by sisters, Doris Qually, Marion Buhr and brother Orval (Pope). He is survived by his sisters, Verna Harrison and Muriel Ritchie of Abbotsford, B.C. John was born in Starbuck, Mb., where he grew up and farmed for some years with his father David Houston. He moved to Vancouver in 1960 and was employed by the Provincial Government Good Roads Dept. until his retirement in 1974. John loved life and he had many handy skills. He like to work and always insisted the job be done right while making it fun. He could always see the humour in mistakes. "Boker" as he was know as, had many friends at home here in Starbuck as well as in his home in Vancouver, who will share in the sorrow of his passing. At his request there will be no memorial service. His remains are to be returned to the prairies from which he came.
