Date of Passing: Mar 21, 2001
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCLARENCE ALBERT MacDONALD Suddenly on the morning of March 21, 2001 in the presence of his wife Anna, Clarence Albert MacDonald completed his earthly journey, passing peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Anna; sons, Kenneth and Glen (Nancy) and grandchildren, Nathan and Brittany. Clarence was born in Argyle, MB. where in his formative years on the family farm he developed both a love of agriculture and a lifelong fascination with machinery of all types. Military service during the Second World War saw him posted to several locations throughout the Pacific Northwest and the Yukon. After the war Clarence found employment first with Powell Equipment in Winnipeg as a sales and service representative for 24 years and later with Huggard Equipment until his retirement in 1981. Anna and Clarence were married in June of 1955 and together raised their family while living at Grosse Isle, MB. for nearly 27 years. Mom and Dad moved into their "retirement" residence in Carman in 1993. Clarence is survived by brother Robert of British Columbia; and predeceased by his father John and mother Mary; sisters, Viola and Annetta; brother Garnet; as well as baby brother and sister John Allan and Beatrice who both died in infancy. Dad found great pleasure in family gatherings and in his own unique way he dearly loved and cherished his family. He was an avid reader and a student of history and current affairs, never hesitating to debate politics with friends and family, he loved his country and was a proud member of the Legion for 42 years. His astonishing memory served him well when recounting adventures from his youth and like so many others of his generation our father faced lifes trials and tribulations with dignity and steadfast resolve we have come to respect and admire. He lived a long and often difficult life, a generous man who worked hard and found solitude in the simple pleasures of everyday living. Clarence was baptized upon confession of faith in May of 1990 and now reaps the reward of eternal salvation as promised by our Lord. We the family wish to express our thanks and appreciation to each of the Carman Health Care providers who attended to his needs. Thanks also to friends and well wishers for their support during this difficult time. Most of all thank you, Mother, for your years of endless devotion and support as wife, caregiver and friend; your love and comfort given to this man in the twilight of his life shall never be forgotten. Farewell Dad we will miss you! Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Church of Christ in Carman, with Hugh Gannon officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Boyne Lodge, Box 1644, Carman, MB R0G 0J0. Doyles Funeral Chapel of Carman in care of arrangements.
