DONALD JOHN WILKES 1937 - 2001 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Don Wilkes on March 22, 2001 at 63 years of age. Don will be lovingly remembered by his children, Susan (Rob) Friesen and Bryan Wilkes; grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew and Sarah Friesen; sister Sheila (Wayne) Brien; niece Maureen (Rene) Hamonic; nephews, Rick and Rob Brien; great nephews, Justin and Connor Hamonic; special friend Irene Witt and her family and many other close friends and relatives. Don was predeceased by his parents, Dorothy and Richard Wilkes. When Don retired from Air Canada a few years ago, he dreamed of creating a home in Winnipeg Beach. He had recently completed the final touches on his new home. Don loved the lake and cherished the time spent there especially when his grandchildren visited. We are especially thankful to our friends for all their support especially Greg and Rhonda Kirton. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit and Emergency Department at the Seven Oaks Hospital for their compassionate care. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 27 at 1:00 p.m., at Thomson Funeral Chapel, 669 Broadway with reception to follow. Viewing will be held Monday, March 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Thomson Funeral Chapel. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Dons name.
