Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY MAY PEARL CASSELMAN Peacefully and surrounded by family, Dorothy passed away Friday, March 23, 2001 after a brief battle with lymphoma which she fought most courageously to her last days. Dorothy, fondly known as Dot, was born August 18, 1929 in Daly Municipality, Man. to Orlo and Reenie Brown. She will be dearly missed by her husband of 46 years Harold; daughters, Lynn (Jim Hamilton), Jewel and Margaret Anne (Ferencs Kovacs) grandchildren, Melanie, Amber (Joel Green), Adara, Emily, Veronica, Stephen, Nicholas; and great-granddaughter Anais; brother Verne Brown and sister Darlene (Les Taylor) her many cousins, nieces and nephews and her ever-lovin Charlie the cat. Dorothys family and her many friends will always remember her love of life, whether it was singing, cooking, calligraphy or the joy she derived from her 25 years of voluntary service at Middlechurch Home, either leading the sing songs, visiting or working in the library. Dorothy was very involved over the years with church choirs in Rivers, Brandon, Neepawa, Winnipeg and Oakbank, both singing and directing. Harolds barbershop singing was a big part of her life and she became one of the chorus greatest fans and supporters. Dorothy was also involved with the Oakbank Dinner theatre, singing, acting, doing make-up and helping backstage. Perhaps her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She went out of her way to create opportunities to spend time with them and share lessons learned. The birth of her only great grandchild, Baby Anais, gave her great pleasure and kept everyones spirits high during her illness. This past February 23 was a special day for Dorothy, when the entire family gathered to share their love and support, over a favourite meal of caesar salad, pizza and beer. The family would like to thank Dr. Ullyot and all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Health Sciences Centre, D6, D5 and H4 and in particular Drs. Maksymiuk, Houston, Sanchez and Wiebe. Your compassion and concerns have been a great comfort and support for everyone. Also, thanks to all the many friends who have visited, sent flowers, cards, comforting words and prayers. The immediate family will hold a private burial service, prior to joining relatives and friends in a "Celebration of Dorothys life" to be held Monday, March 26 at 1:00 p.m. at Oakbank United Church, 582 Balsam Crescent, Oakbank, Man. with Reverend Dawn Ballantine-Dickson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice. Glen Eden Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
