EVERETT B. TAYLOR Died quite suddenly at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on March 16, 2001, at the age of 76, after battling ill-health for many years. He is survived by his wife Edna; children, Bruce (Susan) of Edmonton, Keith (Erna) of Steinbach and Beth (Ray) of Nanaimo; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Everett is also survived by brothers, Harold, Earl, Bill, Maxwell and Leslie. He is predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Agnes; brother Spencer and sisters, Violet (Robson) and Margaret (Drummond). Everett was born and raised in Rossburn, until his service overseas with The Loyal Edmonton Regiment in 1942. Upon returning he was married in 1946 and returned to Rossburn to farm. In 1955 he took a posting at Riding Mountain National Park and the Onanole Post Office. He transferred to Steinbach in 1967 and worked as assistant postmaster (P.O.6) until medical retirement in 1975. He was always actively involved in community events wherever he was, including coaching baseball, hockey and Scouts. He loved camping, fishing hunting, curling, and golf. He spent 22 winters in Mesa Arizona, enjoying the warm weather and an active social group, dancing, playing pool, swimming, golfing and participating in most social events. He belonged to the Legion for 55 years, being most active in organizing the combined Canadian and American Remembrance Day Observance in Mesa. Funeral services were held at Trinity United Church on March 20, with Rev. John Nesbitt officiating. Interment followed in the Veterans Section of the Brandon Cemetery. Arrangements were in care of Brockie Donovan.
