DOREEN MARY KIRK It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our wife, mother and grandmother Doreen Mary Kirk on Saturday, March 24, 2001. Cameron, her husband of 54 years; her children and their spouses, Bob and Kathleen Kirk, Alan and Barb Kirk and Sheila and Rodney Cook and her grandchildren, Anne, John and Alison Kirk and Erin and Evan Cook will deeply miss Doreen. She will also be sadly missed by her twin sister Donna (Don) Doyle; brother Ron Nichol; sister Joan Anderson and sister-in-law Marion Kirk as well as many other relatives and friends. Her parents Bert and Margaret Nichol and sister Joyce Cates predeceased Doreen. Doreen was born in Sperling, Man., on December 26, 1923. She spent her youth on the family farm until she moved to Winnipeg in 1940 to attend Business College. Doreen and Cameron were married in 1947 and moved to Sanford in 1952 where they farmed for many years. Doreen was very involved with her community and was a long-time member of the Sanford Legion Auxiliary and the Sanford United Church. During her years employed by Manitoba Crop Insurance, Doreen very much enjoyed working with the local farm community. Upon retirement, she took great pleasure spending her leisure time golfing, gardening and playing bridge with her friends. Her daily walk around Sanford, particularly the opportunity this gave her to stop and chat with those she met, was something she always looked forward to doing. Doreen especially treasured time spent with her family. Her grandchildren will always remember the mints she secreted in the tea towel drawer and her freshly baked cinnamon buns. Her family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Garcia and staff on 3E of the Riverview Health Centre for their kindness and caring. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 27 at 10:30 a.m., at the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, with reception to follow at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Doreens memory to the Sanford United Church or the Riverview Health Centre, One Morley Avenue, Winnipeg. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
