JOHN WILLIAM KOSOWAN January 5, 1940 - March 24, 2001 Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, John passed away with his family by his side. His memory will be cherished by his loving wife Sharon; his sons, John (Esther), Jim (Amy and children, Chantel, Keelin, Chyan, Shelby) his grandson and pride and joy Andrew ("Turkey") his special "investment" buddy Wade; his favourite mother-in-law Phyllis; his brothers-in-law, Bert, George (Vera and children, Russell, Matthew, Koma Rae), as well as numerous relatives and countless friends. John was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Lena and his sister Olga. John is survived by his brothers, Tom (Margaret), Bob (Carolyn) and Leonard (Waltra). John loved his wife, children and grandson dearly. He was a generous, patient family man and he considered his closest friends as part of his family. John enjoyed the outdoors and summers at the Northland Trailer Park where for 30 years he played lawn darts, badminton and early, early morning horse shoes. John was an avid sportsman, playing and coaching baseball, hockey, soccer and was involved in shuffleboard, curling, bowling, hunting, and golfing. He was President of the Transcona Old-timers Hockey league for eight years. John lived in south Transcona all his life and worked at CNR, Transcona Shops for 37 1/2 years. During his six years of retirement, he pursued his prime hobbies of cooking, wine making, golfing and casino trips with gusto. His witty sense of humour and infectious laugh were without equal and brightened everyones day. "Tho I shall not pass your way again you will not forget me, as I have left footprints on your soul that will last a lifetime." The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Taylor, Dr. Andrew Cooke and all the staff of St. Boniface Hospital for the care and compassion they provided to John during his illness. The support of family and friends gave John great comfort and was deeply appreciated. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 409 Tache Ave., Wpg., MB, R2H 2A6.
