DR. WILLIAM JAMES DAVIDSON Peacefully, at home, on March 23, 2001 at the age of 70 years, Dr. William James Davidson passed away. William leaves to cherish his memory his sister Elizabeth Patey of Aberdeen, Scotland; his brother Harry of England; his children, Dr. Ross Davidson (Brenda), Morag Livingstone (Larry), Linda Turner (Rob) and his grandchildren, Kaitlin, Brianna, Shayla, Katrina, Logan, Justin, Mitchell and Bradley. William was born on November 28, 1930 in Aberdeen, Scotland. Before immigrating to Canada he was an ardent supporter of the Aberdeen Dons Football Club, enjoyed fishing in the rivers of Scotland, and enjoyed attending the Highland games. William enjoyed playing the bagpipes, and was thrilled to watch his son develop into a piper as well. William immigrated to Canada in 1960 to assume a position in the department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of Manitoba. He was cross-appointed in the department of Psychiatry and was a consultant at the Selkirk Mental Health Facility. William enjoyed his profession, but derived the most pleasure from teaching Medical, Nursing and Pharmacy students through his career. William continued to enjoy fishing and was an active member of the Scottish community. William was a founding member of the Canadian Soccer Referees Association and was an active referee until the mid 1980s. He derived great pleasure watching his daughters Highland dance and his son pipe. He spent his spare time raising wild flowers and spending time out at his "Land". A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27 at the Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301 - 352 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8.
