HELGA BLAIS On Friday, March 23, 2001 at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, Helga Blais passed away at the age of 76 years. Helga Blais was born in Medstead, Saskatchewan on October 7, 1924. She attended business school and upon graduation operated a restaurant on Lilac Street in Winnipeg, worked for the post office as a mail sorter and worked for home care. In the past, Helga enjoyed sewing, reading and music. She played musical instruments by ear and especially enjoyed the accordion. She was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church. Helga has had a long history of Alzheimers Disease and has been cared for at home for many years by her husband. Helga leaves to cherish her memory her husband Pastor Stanley Rude; sister-in-law Phylis Egeland; brother Loble and his wife Elsie; sister Clare and husband Andy Olson and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Alfred and Hilda Egeland, two brothers and one sister. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 29 at St. Marks Lutheran Church, 600 Cambridge Street. Interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Viewing prior to the service.
