ELSIE WROBLEWSKY On Sunday, March 25, 2001, while getting ready for church, our mother decided to take a shortcut to heaven. She was born Elsie Melina Adolf on May 29, 1915 in Kipling, Sask. The doctor didnt think she would live. She proved them wrong. Even falling in a well as a small child couldnt stop her. Elsies father died when she was 14 years old. Her mother died when Elsie was 21. Being the oldest daughter gave her a lot of responsibility at a young age. In 1939 she married Fred William Wroblewsky and they farmed in the Brunkild area. Shortly after their marriage, her two youngest brothers came to live with them for a while. Whether curling, teaching sewing, or doing church work, our mother was active in the community and enjoyed life. In 1979 our father passed away. Elsie remained on the farm and pursued new interests like playing golf and bowling. She volunteered for years with the Special Olympics. In 1992 she moved to Carman. Here she made many new and dear friends while cherishing the old ones. Two episodes with cancer could not keep her down long in 1999 she, with her team, won a bronze medal for carpet bowling in the MSOS games. Our mother was predeceased by two sisters, Ida Hedstrom and Martha Emmerton (Rathgaber) and three brothers, Bill, John and Albert Adolf. She is survived by one sister Erma Kashmere (Kipling, Sask.) and two brothers, Walter Adolf (Edmonton) and Edwin Adolf (Saskatoon) and two sons, Ron (Sheila Holland) of Winnipeg and Robert (Cathy) of Sperling. A private service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday March 29, at Doyles Funeral Home in Carman with Pastor Jim Halmarson officiating. Everyone is welcome to come to a remembrance lunch at Sperling arena at 12:00 noon. Our mother always said,Send me flowers while Im alive to enjoy them, not at my funeral. If you wish to send flowers, send them to someone you love. As a mother, sister, and friend, she will be sadly missed. Doyles of Carman in care of arrangements.
