Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTERENCE WILLIAM ALGEO P.Eng Taking his final flight on Sunday, March 25, 2001, Terry Algeo passed away peacefully with his family at his side. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Margaret, and four children and their spouses: Jessie, Peggy (Don Chudzy), Chris (Cheryl) and Bill (Wendy Tod). Also left to remember Terry are his five granddaughters, Riki, Jamie, Carley, Maggie and Holly and grandsons, Tyler, Patrick, Jessie and Teagan. His niece Dawn Stewardson (John), is joined by the many Stone nieces and nephews who will miss their Uncle Terry. He was predeceased by his sister Ina in March, 1998. Terry was born in Winnipeg on November 20, 1922 where he lived most of his life. He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1941 as an electrician, serving overseas in England, and Europe with the 39 RECCE Wing. He graduated as an electrical engineer from the University of Manitoba in 1950 and moved to London, Ontario where he worked for General Motors Diesel. In 1958 he returned with his family to Winnipeg where he worked for Pritchard Engineering, The Association of Professional Engineers as Registrar and Versatile Manufacturing. Although he participated in many sports and social activities, Terry had a love of airplanes and aviation, and building model airplanes. He earned his private pilots license in his late 30s and soon started to build his own airplane. Through this he became involved in the Experimental Aircraft Association and its activities. Upon completion on the airplane "The Emeraude", he and his wife flew for 22 years, including trips to Calgary, Lakeland, Florida and other Canadian and American locales. He took part in the planning and implementing of the 1974 Winnipeg Air Show. In later years, he volunteered at the Western Canada Aviation Museum, restoring a wooden glider. He was a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario, an Honourary Life Member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Manitoba, of MANCETT (Technicians and Technologists), of the Springfield Flying Club and the Recreational Aircraft Association. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 28 at John Black Memorial United Church, 898 Henderson Hwy. Interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Special thanks to the caring, loving staff on Lodge 7 at Deer Lodge Centre. He will be sadly missed by all he knew.
