CLAYTON WEST October 15, 1976 - March 26, 2001 Peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his family, Clayton West, also known as "Beep" and "Baby Boy" left to be with his Creator, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Clayton was born at the Womens Centre in Winnipeg. He moved to Lake Manitoba First Nation permanently in 1994. He enjoyed collecting sports trivia, listening to and collecting CD music and music videos. His collection of movies and CDs was so extensive that it became a successful movie rental business. Clayton was a very down-to-earth, easy going young man, who led a very simple life. He enjoyed talking and visiting with friends and relatives (joking and laughing). Clayton was a drug, alcohol and smoke-free person; therefore, he was a great role model and inspiration to his niece, nephews and cousins. In spite of his illness and loss of vision, Clayton continued to live his life to the fullest, always with the belief that he would overcome his illness. Clayton always volunteered his leisure time to the Lake Manitoba Eagles hockey team. Clayton resided with his grandfather Berba Swan for a number of years before he became ill, and he respected and openly expressed the love and support they received from each other. Clayton was very active in the aboriginal culture, especially the drumming, and liked going to the sweat lodge. Left to cherish his memory is his father Billy; his sisters, Pamela (Dudley), Rosella Marion (Terry), Lana Suchar (Ken) one niece Amber; nephews, Ainsley Missyabit, Dallas West, Teren Suchar, Matthew Marion and Tristin Suchar; his grandfather Berba Swan; uncles, Clifford Swan (Lori), Larry Swan, Donald Swan, Ronald Swan (Peggy), Mike West (Rosie), Danny West (Cora), Fred West (Janice), Dennis Swan (Rachel), Brad Swan (Jocelyn) aunties, Mary West, Myra Chippeway (Archie), Elsie Maytwayashing (Leslie), Kathleen Swan (Howard), Beverly Swan (Bernard), Mary Swan, Phyllis Swan, Flora Maytwayashing; also numerous cousins and other relatives. He leaves to mourn special friends, Stacey Maytwayashing, Roy Dering, Daryl and Carl Swan, Shinia Chartrand, Kelsey and Mark West; a very special friend Daniel West, Lawrence West; his God parents Dennis and Beverly Swan. Clayton was predeceased by his mother Doreen West; grandmothers, Margaret Swan and Rachel West; grandfather Robert West; uncles, Raymond, Louis, Alfred and Wilfred Swan, Tommy West; auntie Lillian Unrau; cousins, Robert, Raymond and Lisa Swan, Carl West and Kristin Maytwayashing. Wake service will be held on Wednesday, March 28 and Thursday, March 29, where he resided at the home of Pamela West and Dudley Swan, on the Lake Manitoba First Nation, beginning at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 30 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church on the Lake Manitoba Reserve with interment to follow in the Lake Manitoba Reserve Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Daryl Swan, James Chartrand, Lawrence West, Christian Swan, Larry Swan and Dennis Swan. Honorary pallbearers will be Ainsley Missyabit, Amberly West, Dallas West, Teren Suchar, Matthew Marion and Tristin Suchar. The family wishes to thank Dr. Piesas, CancerCare Manitoba and nurse Charlene Thorkelson for the excellent care given to Clayton; also thanks to Chief and Council of Lake Manitoba First Nation. Arrangements by: Arnason Funeral Homes Ltd. Ashern - Lundar (204) 768-2072

My baby brother was the best gift God gave me. My sweet brother you were always my hero. Not a day goes by I don't think of you. I'm able to sleep in your room knowing you're always with me. Losing you was the hardest day I had to face. I love and miss you so much, you're always my angel in the sky. Your two angels are with you, mom, dad and grandpa Berba. To always have you in my heart and in my mind, thank you for being my brother. Love always, forever your sister, Lana xoxo - Posted by: Lana west (Sister) on: May 15, 2014
