Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLOUIS SIMEON GENDREAU It is with great sadness and deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Louis Simeon Gendreau on the morning of March 24, 2001 following a short and intense battle with cancer. Louis was born on October 8, 1939 to Dr. and Mrs. Rene Lionel Gendreau of Ste. Rose du Lac, MB. He was the third of six children. Louis school years were spent in Ste. Rose du Lac, followed by high school at St. Pauls College in Winnipeg, MB. He received further training in the field of Radiological Technology. Louis used this training as a stepping stone to embark in a career in sales of radiographic equipment which took him throughout most of Canada. Louis was passionately involved in various community groups and activities such as coaching minor hockey, becoming a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and serving as past grand knight, being involved with Toastmasters International and Marriage Encounter and numerous parish committees. Louis most recently held positions with the Ste. Rose General Hospital Board and the Grey Nuns Associate Group. As a child, Louis demonstrated a very strong affinity towards nature and in particular, water. He enjoyed nothing more than to spend his summers with his family and friends in and around Ochre Beach, MB. Louis was an avid boater, water skier, fisherman, beachcomber and sailor. He taught many to water-ski regardless of age and ability. Louis would always take time out to engage in friendly conversation or to lend a helping hand to passers-by. Louis cherished early morning sunrises, evening sunsets, the glow of the campfire and the dancing northern lights. In 1999, he realized his dream to return to Ochre Beach where he would spend his retirement years with his wife Sylvia. Louis will be forever loved and missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, as well as his extended family and many friends. Louis was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Rene Lionel Gendreau and Regina Gendreau; and by his sister Jackie Prefontaine. Louis leaves to mourn his passing and cherish many fond memories, his beloved wife Sylvia; and their three children, Lionel, Jean-Louis, Andree and son-in-law Ray Sieber; five loving grandsons; and by his siblings, Rene and wife Germaine Gendreau, Yvonne and husband Roland Maguet, Irene and husband Dennis Kukura, Adrienne and husband Gerry Archambault; his aunt Irma Gendreau of Winnipeg; and dear family friend Mathilde Renault of Ste. Rose du Lac; along with other aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Prayers will be offered on Friday, March 30 at 8:00 p.m.. from the Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 31 at 10:00 a.m. from the Ste. Rose de Lima Roman Catholic Church, Ste. Rose du Lac. Fr. Michel Nault will officiate with the interment following in the Ste. Rose Cemetery. Members of the Knights of Columbus, Ste. Rose Council No. 5105, will form the honour guard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Louis to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7. Ste. Rose Memorial Chapel, Ste.
