DEANNA (DEANIE) LAUREL BOWLES
Born: Apr 04, 1962
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDEANNA (DEANIE) LAUREL BOWLES Only daughter of Stan and Jan Bowles, was born Wednesday, April 4, 1962 at Flin Flon, MB. She grew up in Cranberry Portage and beating all odds with many hurdles along the way was able to complete her Bachelor of Education degree. She was one credit away from her post graduate diploma in counseling. She was looking forward to a move to Penticton, BC for a milder climate and pursue her career. Deanie was a very outgoing, fun loving and caring person who touched the lives of many people and will be sadly missed. She had a strong devotion to Ste. Therese of Lisieux, the Carmelite Nun known as "The Little Flower". Ste. Therese has inspired many people because of her "little way". The call to holiness is not to do extraordinary things, but rather to do ordinary things with extra ordinary love. Like Deanie, Ste. Therese was sick throughout her life and died at a young age. Deanie passed away Thursday, March 15 at her home in Brandon, MB, age 38 years. She is survived by her parents, Jan and Stan; grandparents, Albert and Vicki Woods; godmother Beulah Stephansson; brothers, Doug, Chris, and Tim; sister-in-law Debbie; niece and nephew, Alicia and Matt, who were the joys of her life; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Deanie was predeceased by her grandparents, Gordon and Margaret Bowles. Prayers and visitation were held Tuesday, March 20 at the Canadian Martyrs Catholic Church, Cranberry Portage, MB. Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, March 21, 11:00 a.m. at the Cranberry Portage Elementary School Auditorium under the auspices of the Canadian Martyrs Catholic Church, with Archbishop Peter Sutton, O.M.I. presiding. Concelebrants were Rev. James Ravenscroft, Rev. Denis Bourbonnais, Rev. Paul Bringleson, and Rev. Edmond Paradis. Music ministry was Cheryl Redman, Sr. Betty Lackenbauer, and Pat Petryk. Readers were Ed Aquin and Lisa Jennissen. Presentation of the Gifts was by Jack and Janice Leptick. The solo, "Even So, Lord Jesus Come" was by Bernice Hay. Ushers were Gerard Jennissen and Gary Wesner. Active pallbearers were Garry Woods, Robert Woods, Terry Woods, Calvin Crook, Rick Petryk, and Ed OHara. Honorary pallbearers were all the people Deanie touched in her special way over the years. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Manitoba Transplant Program Trust Fund, Room GE 441 Health Sciences Centre, 820 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1R9, or to Development and Peace, care of Sister Helen Russell, Box 270, The Pas, MB R9A 1K4, or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 310-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8 in Deanies memory. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Gordon Cumming for 38 years of dedicated care. Just knowing you could be reached day or night was a great comfort to us all. The Bowles family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the people of Flin Flon, The Pas, and C.P. who provided so much help and support during our most difficult time following the passing away of our daughter Deanie. We cannot fully express our thanks for the sympathy and caring expressed by you people. God bless you all. Stan, Jan and family. Hemauer Funeral Home, The Pas, in care of arrangements; 623-3261. Footprints One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, youd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I dont understand why when I needed you most you would leave me." The Lord replied. "My precious, precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

I knew Deanie while my family lived in C.P. from 1972-1975. She was 10-12 at that time, and I was two years older and a friend of her brother Doug. I have fond memories of Deanie from seeing her at school and sometimes while I delivered newspapers along the road to the Bowles Lodge on Lake Athapap. I remember Deanie as vivacious, optimistic and caring for others. She never mentioned her health challenges, and they were not at all evident. She was just a great person and an inspiration to others in overcoming challenges. My family moved from C.P. In 1975, and I lost track of her. However, I thought of her often and find comfort in learning that she went on to have an enjoyable life and touched so many other people along the way. My heartfelt condolences to Deanie’s family and friends. She is well remembered. - Posted by: Ross Long (Friend) on: Sep 30, 2020
