LANCELOT KING 1918 - 2001 Lance King passed away peacefully at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 83, with his wife and son by his side. Lance was predeceased by his parents, one brother Terry, and one sister Winnie. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Millie of 58 years; his son Rick and his wife Linda; two granddaughters, Karly and Ricki; brother Eugene of Toronto; sister Elaine (Michael) of Toronto; sister Bobbe (John) of Strathray, Ont.; his sister-in-law Connie (Eric) Pettitt of Neepawa; brother-in-law George (Eleanor) Klapp of Brandon, Man.; Jack (Elly) Klapp of McCreary; Lorne Klapp of Winnipeg, Allan Klapp of Winnipeg, Roy Kerr of Winnipeg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lance was born in Toronto and came to Manitoba in 1939. In 1942 he married Millie (Klapp). In 1941 he joined the Armed Forces and served nearly four years overseas with the R.C.A.M.C. Later he moved back to Ontario where he owned and operated a service station in Cobaconk, Ontario. Lance returned to Manitoba in 1953 where he became a Winnipeg City Transit driver for 30 years, until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of the Prince Edward Legion and the Independent Order of Foresters. According to Lances wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., on Monday, April 2, 2001, at 12:30 p.m. with Reverend Jim Hatherly officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice may be made in Lances memory. A special thanks to Dr .Gilbert Welch who has been our family doctor for many years and a very true friend when we needed him. Also, to all the staff at Concordia Hospital who all gave Lance the best of care, and to all our good friends who offered their love and good wishes.
