STEPHANIE MERONEK On Thursday, March 29, 2001, at her residence at the Maples Personal Care Home, Stephanie Meronek peacefully passed away at the age of 90 years. She was predeceased by her husband Nicholas Meronek in 1993, her sister Anne Andrustyjan (Dr. Andrew) and brother Mickey Stark. She leaves to mourn her memory her stepdaughter Judith Mak (Bob) and her stepgrandson Darren Mak (Joanne and Amber) of Winnipeg; niece Elsie Alexander of Melbourne, Fla.; great-niece Susan Sundin (Dan) and their children of Melbourne, Fla.; great-nephew Jeff Alexander and his children of Seattle; stepdaughter by a previous marriage, Gail Davis (John) and their children of Santa Maria, CA. Stephanie was born in Winnipeg in 1910 and spent her early childhood on the family farm at Rosa, Man. She was employed as a pattern maker and married Michael Sech on June 3, 1933. She and Michael moved to Whittier, California in the 1950s. Stevie became a successful realtor and made many lifelong friends through her work. Michael passed away in 1968 after 35 years of a successful and happy marriage. In 1969, Stevie married Harry Anthony. Their marriage lasted only a short time as Harry passed away the same year. After Harrys death, Stevie continued her successful real estate career in Whittier. In 1977, she renewed an old friendship with Nick Meronek. They were married in 1977 and resided in Winnipeg until Nicks retirement. For many years they divided their time between their homes in Whittier and Winnipeg. They enjoyed entertaining their friends and relatives in their two locations. She was the perfect hostess. Stevie was fond of gardening and was proud of the oranges and lemons she was able to grow in California. They permanently moved back to Winnipeg in 1987. Her health deteriorated and she moved into the Maples in 1990. Nick was a devoted husband and made daily visits as long as his health permitted. Stevie will be remembered by all as a very generous and kind person. Her family would like to thank her dear friend Joanne Devine for her faithful visits over the years. Thank you to the staff at the Maples for the care provided to Stevie. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., with Pastor Bill Lehman officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main St. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
