ELIZABETH (BETTY) PESTRICK (nee SAWCHUK) 1922 - 2001 With heartfelt sadness, we announce the passing of our wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother, after a lengthy illness with cancer. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Peter; sons, Chris (Linda) and Peter John; grandchildren, Tracy (Roger) Murray and Sandra Pestrick; great-grandchildren, Christine and Samuel; her brothers, John (Anne) and Alex (Helen) Sawchuk and numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her sister Ollie Trach and brother-in-law Tony. Betty was born October 1, 1922 in Russia, immigrated to Canada when she was very young. She married Peter in 1948 and they settled in Winnipeg. She was a registered nurse in Portage la Prairie and then came to what is now known as the Health Sciences Centre. When her children came along she chose to stay at home and raise her family and tend her large garden. Her flower beds and roses were her pride and joy and neighbours were always asking for cuttings and her secrets. Many thanks to the doctors and staff of Concordia Hospital for their care and kindness. According to Bettys wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 4 at 1:00 p.m., at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bettys memory to CancerCare Manitoba, P.O. Box 2248, Stn. Main, Wpg., R3C 9Z9. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements - 586-8044.
