EDWARD PETER HASTINGS Died peacefully on March 27, 2001 at the N. C. Little Memorial Hospice, in Edina, Minnesota, with his good friends, Jean and Chuck Weber by his side. Peter was born in Winnipeg on August 9, 1927, but lived most of his life in the United States. Peters wife Jean, or J.B. as he liked to called her, died of cancer in Los Angeles, California on June 24, 1991. Besides Peter, she was survived by Susan, Trista and Nicole, children of her previous marriage, whom Peter loved and cared for over the years. He will also be missed by his brother George Hastings and his wife Margaret. As well, he will be missed by his sister-in-law Gloria Hastings, widow of Bob Hastings, his brother. He will be mourned by nieces and nephews whose lives he touched periodically in many singular and immeasurable ways. His parents, Walter and Helen Hastings of Winnipeg, died many years ago and so too did his sister, Virginia Bric, with whom he spent a very special childhood at Lake of the Woods in Kenora, Ontario. A special tribute should be recorded hereby to Jean and Chuck Weber, who were loyal friends and provided Peter with the only close family relationship he had during his recent illness. Their love, kindness and devotion surpassed all normal expectations, in a time of his greatest need. The Hastings family will be forever grateful to them and will pray God bestow his blessings on their lives. Cremation has taken place and interment will follow at a later date.

  • Dear mr or mrs, This is a very important message. My name is Rob Lanting, a hobby researcher together with 3 other teammembers who are unveiling a memorialstatue and hold a little ceremony in september, 29th, 2013. We will remember the crash of a Halifax bomberplane, on board with George Hastings as a navigator. On the moment we even used BBC Radio to try to trace down all of the relatives and family members of the crew. We are happy to say that 10 family members will come over in september. We are still searching for Hastings, Hovey and Bellinger relatives, crew who where on board in 1943 on this airplane. This september it will be exactly 70 years ago. We have unfortunately read that Margaret, the wife of George, died this april. I have contacted many radio stations in Canada and newspapers, to try to find these relatives of the crew. Could you please help me getting in contact with relatives still living of George Hastings? Thank you so much!
