JANICE MATILDA DUECK Janice passed away peacefully with family at her side on March 30, 2001 at the Deer Lodge Centre. She was predeceased by her parents, father in 1990 and mother in October 2000. Janice will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her sisters and brothers, Carol (Jim) Pyper, Bob (Dolores) Dueck, Elvin Dueck and Sharon Dueck; one niece Denise (Paul) Modahl; nephews, Brad Dueck, Jason, Sherwin and Ryan Dueck; also great-nieces and nephew, Pamela, Grant and Kristie Modahl; as well as numerous relatives and friends. She was born to Daniel and Helen Dueck on February 23, 1940 and spent her childhood years in Hordean, Man. Upon completion of High School in Winkler, Janice chose Teaching as her profession and obtained her B.A. at the U of M. Janice taught school in Chortiz for several years before moving to Winnipeg where she was employed in the Winnipeg School Division #1 until her illness. She loved children and always strived to bring out the best in each of her students. Janice loved to travel, enjoyed music, skating and cross country skiing, as well as a variety of hobbies which she used in creative ways. Special thanks to the wonderful staff on 3 South at Deer Lodge Centre for their special care and concern. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 4 at 1:00 p.m., at Bethel Mennonite Church, 870 Carter Ave., at Stafford, Winnipeg. Viewing only at the church prior to the service. Interment at Froese Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Janices memory to the St. Boniface General Hospital Research Foundation, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, R2H 2A6 or a charity of ones choice.
