CATHERINE (KAE) LOWEN On Friday, March 30, 2001, at the St. Boniface Hospital, Kae Lowen peacefully passed away at the age of 86. As a Mom, Grandma and loving wife, she will be sadly missed by her husband Gordon; her son Kerby, daughter-in-law Maeva; her daughter-in-law Bonnie Lowen and her loving grandchildren, Heather Ann, Jackson and Anice. She will be remembered by her sister Nan and her many nephews and nieces. Kae was predeceased by her eldest son William and her brother George Kerby. Born in 1915 in Winnipeg, she graduated from United College as part of the Arts and Science Class of 1936. Kae also spent part of her youth at the Winnipeg Canoe Club where she golfed, played tennis and met her future husband, Gordon. Her career as a medical secretary changed to business secretary and office manager in the family firm of E. Gordon Lowen & Co. after her marriage to Gordon on Boxing Day 1942. With the birth of her two sons, Bill in 1946 and Kerby in 1949, Kaes priority was raising a family from their home in Wildwood Park and at the cottage at Caddy Lake. After 47 years in Wildwood, Kae and Gordon moved to Fred Douglas Place. Kaes greatest strength was her ability to make friends and get involved with her church and community. This has been recognized by her life membership in The United College Graduates Association, The Dugald Costume Collection, and her life membership at The United Church Women due to her years of work with the Fr. Garry United Church. She continued her involvement with the community at Fred Douglas Place where she made many new friends and found many old acquaintances, all of whom will miss her. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Road, Winnipeg. Flowers are gratefully declined. If desired, donations in her memory may be made to the Fort Garry United Church Memorial Fund, 800 Point Rd., Winnipeg, Man. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
