WILHELM GEORG BRUEDERLIN Wilhelm Georg, fondly known as "Willi", passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2001 at his residence, Rideau Park Personal Care Home, in Brandon, Manitoba. Left to mourn his passing are his beloved wife Irma of 50 years; three daughters, Christa, Berni (Bryan Harley), and Barbara (Jerry Olechowski), and son Bruno (Kathy) grandchildren, Sheri, Cindy, Jason, Beth, Jane, Heather, Kristen, Eva, and Sarah, and great-grandchildren, Avery and Joel. Willi was predeceased by his parents and siblings in Germany. He is survived by his godson and many friends and relatives living there. Willi was born on July 1, 1922 in Mannheim, Germany. He entered Law School at the University of Freiburg, but his studies were terminated with the outbreak of the Second World War. Willi, Irma, and two young daughters immigrated to Canada after the war. They lived briefly near Hull, Quebec, and then settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he served with the Canadian Armed Forces for the next 20 years. After retiring from military service in 1972, he attended Red River Community College, where he studied to become a plumber. In 1976, he took full retirement and moved with Irma to start a hobby farm near La Broquerie, Manitoba. For the next 18 years, Willi and Irma thoroughly enjoyed the pleasures of country life. Willi loved nature and the outdoors, and for 10 years enjoyed keeping daily records as an official Weather Observer for Environment Canada. Gardening, reading, environmental concerns, Scrabble, and walks with his family and dogs were important parts of his life. Willi and Irma moved to Brandon in 1994. In 1998, Rideau Park became his residence, where he was cared for lovingly by the staff who was like an adopted family. We would like to express our sincere appreciation and thanks for this kindness and care during his stay. If desired, donations may be made in Willis memory to Rideau Park Personal Care Home, 525 Victoria Avenue East, Brandon, MB, R7A 6S9, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 203-42 McTavish Ave. E., Brandon, MB, R7A 2B2. Arrangements were in care of Brockie Donovan.
