NELS TODD Nels passed away March 31, 2001 in Victoria after a short illness. He was born in Rossburn, Man. in 1908. He left home as a young man to learn barbering and shortly after getting his licence he turned to hairdressing. Nels became a well known hairstylist and later opened his own salon in Winnipeg and then a beauty school. He moved to Calgary in 1984 and opened Nels Todd and His Hairstylists. A great entrepreneur and artist, he eventually had salons in Edmonton, Lake Louise and Jasper. Nels won many hair styling competitions, particularly in New York and Chicago. He was a guest artist at styling shows throughout North America. An enthusiastic golfer, Nels continued and enjoyed his sport until ill health dictated otherwise. A faithful Kiwanian, he believed in helping the less fortunate and cherished the camaraderie of his associates. He leaves to mourn very many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as one remaining brother Frank Todd and his wife Carrie. A special mention of friends, June Davis, as well as Mrs. Davey and Herman Hinz and the many former employees and associates who visited him in his retirement. Cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held in Victoria at a future date. First Memorial Funeral Services of Victoria in charge of arrangements.
