EDYTHE MARY TRIMBLE (nee OGSTON) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother and grandmother, Edythe Trimble at Grace Hospital, on April 1, 2001. She has earned her eternal rest after a lengthy struggle in the face of her failing health. She passed from this life with dignity and courage. Edythe was a loving wife of the late Carl (Kelly) Trimble, of Glenboro, MB. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Jessie Ogston; sisters, Elsie Avent, Catherine (Poddy) Compton, Isabel Froome and brother John Ogston. Edythe leaves three sons and their families to cherish her memory, John (Margo), grandchildren, Jim and Shelley, William (Eleanor), grandchildren, Jennifer (Greg) Thain, David and Crystal, Ken (Marilyn), grand-children, Kaitlin and Liam. She also leaves to mourn her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to whom she was a very special lady. Edythe was born and raised in Winnipeg, April, 1917, the daughter of Scottish immigrants. She received her education at Hugh John Macdonald and Daniel McIntyre Collegiate where she excelled academically. Due to the hardship of the depression, she was unable to attend collage and went to work after graduation. Edythe met her future husband - a young farmer - while visiting a cousin in the Glenboro area. They married in November, 1938 and would spend the next 42 years on the family farm before retiring to town in 1980. Mother spent her life devoting herself to her family and community. She served as a member of the local Red Cross group and Hawkins Hustlers. She was also a life-long member of the Rachel Rebekah Lodge #29; attended and supported the Glenboro United Church and served many years as secretary of the U.C.W. She was also employed for many years at the Glenboro Seniors Home as a night attendant. After losing her husband in 1990, mother maintained her own home and spent many hours tending her beautiful flowers, reading and enjoying a game of Scrabble with anyone foolish enough to take her on. Mother also spent many hours visiting shut-ins where she became a special friend to many of them. She was often the first to be at someones door with a pie or buns when misfortune fell. Edythe moved back to Winnipeg last August to be closer to her family, but her health failed soon after. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edythes memory to a charity of choice. The funeral service will be held at Glenboro United Church on Thursday, April 5 at 2:00 p.m. Viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Willmar Chapel.
