Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM JOHN ROBERT (JOHN) MILLS June 4, 1912 - March 31, 2001 In 1912 John was the first baby born in Eriksdale, where he lived most of his life. At 88 years of age he peacefully chose to leave us on Saturday morning, with family present, at the Eriksdale Personal Care Home. John and Emma (Forsyth) were married on December 14, 1940 before John joined the R.C.A.F. He was in #12 Royal Canadian Service Flying Training School in Brandon. He transferred to Inspection Division (AID) in Thunder Bay and became a Flight Sergeant. John worked many years as a heavy duty mechanic in his beloved North with Brodsky Construction, Sigfusson Construction and Comstock where he made many good friends. He loved the North and his work. He showed great integrity and perfectionism in solving problems, often going the extra distance to do a job well. He is loved and will be missed by his family, wife Emma; children, Terry (Judy), Joanne (Alan) and Dawn (Steve), and two special grandsons, Chris and Alex; in-laws John and Iris Forsyth, Jim and Kay Forsyth, Art and Gladys Forsyth, Nan and Len Elfenson, Larry Whitney, also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Nellie (Ellen Taylor), father John, brother Stan, sister-in-law Margaret Whitney and a nephew Allan Forsyth. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 4, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. in the Eriksdale Recreational Centre with Rev. Melanie Kauppila officiating. Interment to follow in the Eriksdale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jay Forsyth, Neil Brandstrom, Arnie Lindell, Bruce McKinnon, Ken Lindell and Keith Lundale. The family greatly appreciates the loving care the staff and friends at the Eriksdale Personal Care Home have given to John this past year, and the special attention he received on his several admissions to the E.M. Crowe Memorial Hospital. In lieu of flowers if friends so desire donations may be made to the McEwen Memorial Park or to the Eriksdale Personal Care Home.
