Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORINE HELEN SHAVER (nee DASHER) It is with deep sadness the family announces the sudden passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother, and great-great-grandmother, Norine Helen Shaver, on Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at the age of 93, in the Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall, MB. Norine was born in Detroit, MI on March 5, 1908 to George and Ida Dasher. On June 4, 1927 she married Cyrus George Shaver in Michigan, moving back to his native homeland of Manitoba a few years later. They settled in Dugald and would reside there all of their married life, farming and raising a family of five children. Mom returned to Detroit in later years to care for her mother and then once again, when her brother Arthur became ill. She returned to Canada in 1987 to be with her family. She resided with her son Allen in Stonewall until moving into Rosewood Lodge in 1999. Mom was an accomplished pianist, having obtained a degree in music from the Detroit School of Music (now Detroit University). She enjoyed playing throughout her life and entertained family and friends when requested. Many of her family members have been kept warm through the years with her beautiful quilts. She loved to garden and preserve the harvest: nothing ever went to waste. She was a hard worker and a very active person well into her 80s. Mom was predeceased by her husband Cyrus in 1960, son Ronald in 1982, daughter Joanne in 1983. She leaves to cherish her memory, son George (Irene) of Ostenfeld, son Allen (Ruth) of Regina, daughter Shirley of Winnipeg, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held tonight, Friday, April 6 between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. Funeral service will follow on Saturday, April 7 at 2:00 p.m., also at the chapel. Burial in the family plot, Woodmere Cemetery, Detroit, Michigan. God looked upon His garden and found an empty space Then He looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face. He put His arms around you and lifted you to rest. Gods garden must be beautiful for he only takes the best. He saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb, He closed your weary eyes and whispered, "Peace be Thine". It broke our hearts to lose you but you did not go alone, For part of us went with you to Gods garden, your new home. "Goodbye For Now Mom Well Miss You." Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
