LEWIS SEARLE It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lewis Searle, at the age of 80 years, on Thursday, April 5, 2001, with his family by his side. He will be forever treasured and deeply missed by his loving wife, Bobby, his children Debby (Norman) Yusim, Marshall (Leora) Morris, Audra (Evan) Roitenberg. Left to cherish their Zaidas memory are his grandchildren Melanie, Daniel, Cassia, Marielle, Jason, Jeremy, and Jennifer. He is also survived by his brother Jack (Peggy) Searle, brother-in-law Ernest Walsh, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Arnold and Lil Conner, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. He was predeceased by his brother Harry, his sister Zelda Walsh, and his daughter, Enid Shragge. Lew was born in Winnipeg February 8, 1921. He served in the Canadian Air Force and had a long and distinguished career in the electrical industry. He first began his career with American Electric (Amesco) where he rose to the position of Sales Manager. In 1972 Amesco was purchased by Westburne, where he felt privileged to serve as President and General Manager until his retirement in 1992. Lews word was his bond. Leading by example, he built a reputation of integrity and decency in the business community. In business and in life Lew always had an open door policy for those who sought his valued advice. He was a member of the Electric Service League, Bnai Brith, General Monash Legion, and supported many charitable causes. Lews gifted sense of humour endeared him to all. He had a zest for life that was matched by few others. Truly a rare individual, who by his own example instilled the highest values in his family. His infinite wisdom and guidance will be sorely missed. Family was his greatest joy. Bobby and Lew shared each others lives for 28 wonderful years. They enjoyed travelling together, and especially enjoyed wintering in Palm Springs, where their children and grandchildren often came together to share special times. Funeral services were held April 6th at Rosh Pina Synagogue, officiated by Cantor Gerry Daien. Pallbearers were Marshall Morris, Norman Yusim, Evan Roitenberg, Arnold Conner, Michael Conner, and Bert Zausmer. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Adrian Fine and Dr. George Louridas, and to Eva and the nursing staff of the Peritoneal Dialysis Unit at St. Boniface Hospital, as well as the nurses, orderlies, and aids of wards 4A and 5B for their wonderful care and compassion. Donations may be made in memory of Lew to the "Kidney Research Fund", c/o St. Boniface Hospital and Research Foundation, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6. There will always be a heartache, And often a silent tear, But always special memories, Of the days when you were here. We hold you close within our hearts, And there you will remain, To walk with us throughout our lives, Until we meet again. If tears could build a stairway, And memories a lane, We would walk right up to heaven, And bring you home again.
