STEVEN RONALD MAKINSON On Thursday, April 5, 2001, at the St. Boniface Hospital, Steven Ronald Makinson of Winnipeg and formerly of Portage la Prairie, beloved son of Roberta and Ron Makinson, passed away at the age of 26 years, following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the Omega Funeral Home, Portage la Prairie, on Monday, April 9 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Ray Willms officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at Hillside Cemetery. Steven was born on September 30, 1974 son of Ron and Roberta Makinson at Portage la Prairie where he was raised. He attended North Memorial, La Verendrye, Portage Collegiate and graduating from Arthur Meighen High School in 1992. He then attended the University of Manitoba taking a variety of subjects. During his school years he held several part time jobs. Until his recent illness he was employed with Convergys (AT&T) in Winnipeg. Steven enjoyed running and during his junior years he ran the half marathon. Steven was gifted with a keen and inquisitive mind and had a love for learning. Some of his favourite subjects were geology and history, especially Russian history. As well he loved reading on a wide variety of topics. His special times were spent with his family and friends. His keen sense of humour developed him many close friendships and happy memories. Predeceased by his grandparents William Bond; Don and Alice Makinson; he leaves to mourn his passing his parents Roberta and Ron; grandmother Jean Bond all of Portage la Prairie; brother Paul of Edmonton and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be sadly missed by his special friend Terri-Lynn Pfitzner. The Omega Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
