MARY NIZALOWSKI (nee ZIYONE) Peacefully, on Thursday, April 5, 2001 at the Selkirk General Hospital, Mary Nizalowski, aged 97 years of Selkirk passed away. Mary was predeceased by an infant daughter; her husband John in 1986; daughter Bernice Turner and son-in-law Paul Zachidniak, both in 1999; grandson Allan Solnik in 1997; as well as three brothers and four sisters. She leaves surviving two daughters, Jean Zachidniak of Pilot Mound and Ann Zachidniak and husband Nick of Selkirk. She also leaves seven grand-children; 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-granddaughters and two sisters. Mary was born in Winnipeg Beach on May 6, 1903 and married John Nizalowski in 1918. They lived briefly in Winnipeg then moved to Selkirk and raised their family. Mary was a resident of Red River Place Nursing Home since 1989. Prayers will be said on Monday, April 9, at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 10, at 10:30 a.m. in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, Selkirk with Fr. Boguslaw Wardzinski officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Her pallbearers will be her grandsons, Ken Watson, Bill Watson, Dan Kupchik, Lawrence Zachidniak, Maurice Lavoie and granddaughter Terra Willim.
